What is a Balayage?

Balayage was first created to mimic hair that is naturally lightened in the sun, usually with a lived-in look on the root and on the underlayers of hair with subtle lighter pieces around the hairline and on the top layer, where the sun would reach.

During a balayage lightener is used by hand painting lightner on pieces that would naturally lighten in the sun. After the hair is lifted to the desired level it is toned to compliment the client’s existing hair color, skin tone, and eye color.

Making a follow-up appointment to touch up the color is also ideal to manage the upkeep of your new look. Your stylist will instruct you on when that follow-up should be.
